The Early Childhood Program at Darul Arqam School provides a home away from home for your child. Coupled with the most recent research in early childhood education and a dedicated and experienced staff, our various programs are the perfect choice for your child.
Our program puts into practice the fact that children gain most of their lifetime education in the first few years of learning and that this learning takes place best through play and exploration. Our philosophy is based on Islamic traditions in early childhood education.
We use a variety of differentiated instructions to learn about science, math, social studies and literacy. Children will also interact in centers that provide real-life experiences such as computers, dramatic play, art, as well as opportunities for gross motor play.
Arabic and Quran instruction are infused with games, hands-on activities, and stories. Throughout the curriculum, as throughout our school in general, our students gain an awareness and understanding of their world, their Creator, and their faith.
Darul Arqam School elementary school staff understand that this is a critical time for our students to master foundational concepts and mechanics and develop learning skills and strategies that will set them on the road for a lifetime of academic success.
We understand that learning today is different than a year or three years ago. That’s why we continually review our programs to include the most up-to-date approaches and technologies that appeal to young learners.
DAS has integrated e-textbooks, video, and online resources into our curriculum to provide a dynamic, fun, and enriching learning experience.
Middle School at Darul Arqam School is an engaging and thought-provoking place, where students develop critical thinking skills through hands-on project-based learning, preparing them to take on real-world challenges. Students will have the opportunity to experience STEM education in their classrooms, where facts and figures are turned into ingenuity and inventiveness. Where the four walls of the classroom open up and lead to real-world challenges and opportunities – from energy and the environment, to housing and healthcare, to transportation and technology.
The objective is to implement changes that will result in rigorous and relevant learning for all students, supported by strong, positive relationships, for the purpose of improving student achievement in the required academic subjects by developing skills based on the following four dimensions:
Foundation Learning: Academic learning in English language arts (reading/writing), mathematics, science, and other subjects identified by the school.
Stretch Learning: Demonstration of rigorous and relevant learning beyond minimum requirements (e.g. achievement/participation in higher level courses, specialized courses)
Interdisciplinary work and projects (e.g. senior exhibition)
Average number of college credits earned by graduation (dual enrollment)
Percent of students completing career majors or career/technical education programs
Achievement of specialized certificates (e.g. Microsoft, Cisco Academy)
Learner Engagement: The extent to which learners (1) are motivated and committed to learning, (2) have a sense of belonging and accomplishment, and (3) have relationships with adults, peers, and parents that support learning
Personal Skills Development: (1) Measures of personal, social, service, and leadership skills, and (2) demonstrations of positive behaviors and attitudes.
A few years ago, based on the feedback and conversations we had with our Alumni, we decided to revamp our Islamic Studies program for High School students. During this process we decided to look at higher educational institutions and courses they offered. Allah guided us towards Manara Institute and thus a wonderful relationship was formed. Since 2017 our students have been receiving instruction from Manara professors and taking course such as:
Islamic Culture
Jurisprudence of the Family
Doctrines & Sects
Islamic Aqedah
History and Realty of Islam in the West
Miracles of the Quran
Fiqh As-Sunnah
Our High School students take 4 courses each year and that combined with Quran and Arabic courses given at the school, students fulfil the degree requirements. Darul Arqam School’s first group of students to graduate with both a High School Diploma and an Associate Degree in Islamic Studies through this joint venture was in June 2021.
Extracurricular activities are an integral part of student life at Darul Arqam. Our students run, organize, and participate in a variety of clubs based on their interests.
